A safe and quiet residential area within walking distance of the Historic City Centre which boasts heritage sites (Durham Cathedral and Castle), fantastic bars and restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, sports and leisure facilities and some simply stunning riverside walks among its many attractions. Tesco Express is only 5min down the street as well as Claypath Deli cafe where you can get delicious home made cakes, bread or sourdough pizzas. You can also take advantage of the wonderful nature and riverside walks which are only 5 minutes away.

Good to know

Situated only a 10 minute walk from the city centre of Durham, this 2BDR property is a 1930s semi which has been fully renovated in 2020 in an art deco style, preserving traditional English features and original stain glass windows, encased in new double glazing to keep the place warm. The house has a warm and cosy feel to it, with a light and spacious, fully equipped kitchen and dining area, from where you can also access a private patio. Then there is also a living room on the ground floor, featuring the original stained glass windows and a unique fireplace. On the first floor, you will find two good sized bedrooms (king size bed and two singles) with a bathroom. There is also a small study area on the landing. We provide all the linens, towels, and toiletries you need to make your stay comfortable and hassle-free. Parking There is a car space for one car in the driveway as well as plenty of street (metered) parking if extra parking is needed.

Great location - short walk into centre of city. As we were self-catering, we really appreciated how incredibly well-equipped the kitchen was, even including thoughtful provision of oils and spices. Liked the Art Deco styling throughout. Enjoyed cosying up in the living room at the end of the day - even a few books and games available to entertain. Fabulous!

Irene’s Durham property is an absolute gem. We will be returning! From the helpful communications, beautiful decor, spacious interior, comfortable beds, off street parking, 8 minute walk to the Gala Theatre in Durham it was everything we ever needed and more. Irena’s place was even better than I expected. It was perfectly clean, comfortable, and lovely. Nice location—easy walk to downtown with many good restaurants. Would definitely stay here again.

Irena’s place is incredibly welcoming, spotless, cosy, and wonderfully restful. The beds and linens were exceptionally comfortable and made for a perfect night’s sleep after exploring Durham. Communication was outstanding from start to finish—from smooth check-in, to thoughtful local recommendations, to an easy check-out. If arriving by train with luggage, I would definitely recommend taking a taxi (around £6.80 from Durham Rail Station) to the house, especially if you have bags. If I’m ever back in Durham, I would stay at Irena’s charming home again without hesitation. Thank you so much for such a lovely stay on our journey through the UK!

This property is conveniently located, only a short walk to Durham marketplace and other major Durham sights. The Train station as well as the Bus station are about a 15 minute walk with trains going to near by Newcastle or other areas such as York, London or Edinburgh and many others. It is also well placed for commuting purposes being within a few minutes drive of the A(690) Durham to Sunderland Highway which in turn offers access to the A1(M) Motorway Interchange and the A19. Easy access to and from the A1M motorway (10 minutes drive).
